Grow Your Email List With Free Gifts

Gone are the days when people would give you their email addresses just because you asked them.

“Sign up to receive our newsletter!”

“Sign up to join our email list!”

“Sign up to receive the latest news from our site!”

When was the last time you signed up for a listing “Just because”,

People don’t just hand out their email addresses these days, and if they give it to you, they’re definitely expecting something of value in return. (Isn’t it?)

With that in mind, I thought I’d put together a list of free gifts you can give to your email subscribers. And if you have anything to add to this list, please let me know in the comments at the end of this post!

special video

Video works really well as an incentive, and is one of the easiest free gifts to make because you can pack a lot of information into just a 5-minute video clip.

Present insider secrets, exclusive interviews or how-to videos:

* “How to get 100 new fans in 24 hours”

* “How to Bake the Perfect Gluten-Free Cake”

* “How to speed up reading a book in less than 30 minutes”

free report

Before you feel overwhelmed, know that a free report doesn’t have to be anything fancy. In fact, there are many free reports being offered that are really just a one page meaty document.

One thing you can do is go back to your old Word docs and find an unpublished article. Tweak it; Let it look beautiful and voila! a report.

Again, works well for “how to” reports, as does top 10 lists.

e books

Do you have an old eBook that’s no longer flying off the shelves, so to speak?

Give it a quick makeover and offer it as a freebie. The estimated value of an eBook is huge and if you’re not generating much revenue with it, maybe it can be helpful in your list building efforts.

“Best” Compilation

If you have a blog that’s been around for a while, cut and paste your top 10, 20 or 50 blog posts into a Word doc, convert it to PDF, and you have a “best” package you can offer. Huh .

expert guide

If you know some gurus in your niche, consider asking them for a short interview or Q&A. Have it transcribed (or do it yourself) and you have a hot little package that you can pass on to your customers.

discount or coupon code

It’s easy to set up, and will certainly get you more customers than a few. Clearly Contacts has nailed it!

If you sell a product on your site, offer your email subscribers a discount or coupon code…or better yet, offer it regularly to make sure they stay on your list.

Add the code to your auto responder and you are ready to go.

This list is by no means exhaustive, but hopefully it will get you on the road to discovering what you can offer as a freebie. The key is exclusivity – provide your email subscribers with something of value that only they get. Make them feel like part of the inner circle and your list is sure to grow!
